Human Body Figure Drawing Workshop by Blair Thornley 09/27/2015

Time and Location:

We plan to have a human body figure drawing workshop starting on Oct 4th (Sunday). It is a weekly class from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm and total 9 weeks,  . The location is at Mars Meeting Center (9400 Activity Rd, Suite D, San Diego, CA 92126). Plenty free parking lots.

Teacher:

Blair Thornley is a nationally known illustrator, painter, and animator. Her gestural characters have appeared in New York Times, LA Times, Neiman Marcus, Vogue, Vanity Fair, Raygun, Herman Miller, etc, and locally in San Diego Home and Garden, her biography and portfolio is  here!

Course Description:

This class will provide students with some fundamental tools for drawing nude models. We will work from short and long poses, and will cover a few basic ways to approach life drawing, such as capturing intent and gesture, measuring proportion, understanding and clearly drawing the perspective within a human form, editing and what to focus on. We will work with line as well as with shapes of value (light and dark). If you can draw the human form, I am convinced you can draw anything else. Students should also have a sketchbook to work in outside of class. Keep practicing what you learn in class, and keep drawing from life (observation). From time to time I will ask you to do an assignment at home to augment what we do in class. If you want to really improve your drawing, draw something every day.
